When Porsche launched the first Cayenne SUV in 2002, together with Volkswagen, dyed-in-the-wool Porsche fans thought the end of the world had come. Not only was the sports carmaker venturing into entirely new terrain, it was doing so with those guys from Wolfsburg. Today, everyone knows what the decision by and for Porsche was perfectly right and pointed the way to the future. In the meantime, over 760,000 Cayennes have been manufactured, making it a global bestseller. We followed the development and testing of the new Cayenne over a period of three years on behalf of n-tv.
