Moin Moin Housam! - Ein Syrer packts an
NDR | typisch! | 1 × 30 min
“As a refugee, I want to give something back to society!” says Housam Abo Essa (29) from Damascus. As an ambassador for a sponsorship project, he helps other refugees integrate in their new hometown of Hamburg. The 29-year-old has been living in Germany for a year and a half – without his family. His parents, two brothers and two sisters were torn apart by their long escape and now live scattered across Egypt, Sweden and Germany.
Housam is a motivated and ambitious man. In Damascus, the Syrian took a degree course in business management; he passed the German course B1 with 98 out of a possible 100 points – with the support of his own sponsor Susanne Drexl. Together, the two have found a small flat in Hamburg-Bramfeld for Housa, and now he even has hopes of a job. Apart from bringing his family back together again, this is his greatest desire: “I want to earn my own living as quickly as possible.” Typical NDR! follows Housam during his first day at work in a Hamburg company.
